The Urban Agency of Tétouan is a public institution endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy. It is managed by a Director and administered by a board of directors.

The Board of Directors comprises, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister or the supervising Minister, the representatives of the State, the walis and governors of the provinces and prefectures concerned, the elected officials and the presidents of the professional chambers.

Date of creation: 30 October 1997 by decree No. 2-97-361.

FIELDS OF ACTION

The area of operation of the AUTé extends over 55 communes, including 06 urban communes and 49 rural communes, over a total area of 7,768 km².
Its territorial jurisdiction corresponds to the following Prefectures and Provinces:

  • Province of Tétouan
  • Province of Chefchaouen
  • Prefecture of M’diq-Fnideq

The flagship missions of the Urban Agency of Tétouan:

The Urban Agency of Tétouan is a public establishment endowed with legal personality and financial autonomy.

Placed under the supervision of the Ministry of National Territory Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy.

The missions and powers of the Urban Agency of Tétouan are defined by the Dahir issued as Law No. 1.93.51 of 12 Rabii I 1414 (10 September 1993).

Thus, with reference to the aforementioned legal framework and through its activities and its interventions on the ground, the main tasks can be cited as follows:

  • Urban planning through the launching, monitoring and implementation of urban planning documents, in particular development plans and improvement plans;
  • The examination of construction, subdivision, housing groupings and parcelling projects;
  • Carrying out the studies necessary for the establishment of the "SDAU" (Urban Development Master Plans) and monitoring the implementation of the orientations defined therein;
  • Restructuring of unregulated housing and under-equipped neighbourhoods;
  • Architectural assistance in rural areas;
  • Supervision and technical assistance to territorial collectivities;
  • Participation in the processes of incentivizing and promoting investment;
  • Improving the quality of the services provided to citizens by prioritizing transparency, dematerialization, efficiency and proximity.

Pursuant to the provisions of the Dahir bearing Law No. 1-93-51 of 22 Rabia I 1414 (10 September 1993) establishing the urban agencies, and of Decree No. 2-93-67 of Rabia II 1414 (21 September 1993) issued for the application of the above-mentioned Dahir bearing Law, and of Decree No. 2-97-361 (30 October 1997) concerning the creation of the Urban Agency of Tétouan, the latter comprises, in addition to 2 chargés de mission and an IT department directly attached to the director, 4 departments:

  • Department of Legal and Land Affairs

Since its creation in 1997, the Urban Agency of Tétouan has been working continuously to improve the performance of its expertise in terms of services delivered to citizens and its partners in terms of efficiency, responsiveness, and transparency.

To this day, the AUTé adheres to the national strategy for the modernisation of the administration through the implementation of a policy of dematerialisation of the services offered by our departments.

Likewise, digital communication has become an essential tool for disseminating information, exchanging, and encouraging dialogue. It is in this perspective that the Urban Agency has set up its Web portal as a platform for information, sharing and exchange, intended to strengthen its policy of proximity and to open up further to its environment. This Web portal enables citizens and partners to learn about the missions and prerogatives of the Urban Agency of Tétouan, and ensures the popularization of reliable and credible information in its areas of competence (urban planning, regional planning, architecture, heritage, …).

This portal is therefore a door open to the world, a door that is not limited solely to providing information on the projects opened and monitored by the Agency, but also to gathering, in return, the proposals and suggestions of our partners, in order to enable us to continuously improve the quality of our services and to better listen to our territory.

Our will is to continue meeting the needs of our fellow citizens and our partners, always seeking to improve our communication channels and to promote our institution as a citizen institution.
